A good starting project is one you can finish, explain and test. AI can help with a draft or error message, but check the documentation and understand what your code does before using it with real people or data.
Build a small service-information page
- Week 1: write HTML for opening hours, a contact link and a dated status message.
- Week 2: style it for a phone; check zoom, keyboard order and readable contrast.
- Week 3: add a local filter for a short list of synthetic services; show an empty result.
- Week 4: test broken links, missing data and slow loading; document limitations.
Use MDN’s web-development learning resources and W3C accessibility tutorials. A completed exercise should have working links, clear labels and a README explaining how to run it. The steps above are a proposed exercise, not a claim that a student completed it.
Avoid collecting personal information or taking payments in your first exercise. Keep sample data labelled. Publishing a page is different from operating a secure business app. Caynetic OSS offers a place to explore documented projects and their actual status.
