Practical software guides

A KPI deck summarizes work. It cannot establish that a commitment was completed. Start with the task, its dependency and the evidence needed to verify it.

Work a stalled dependency

Training is marked blocked because staff accounts have not been approved. Keep the blocker visible and route the approval request. Do not convert “training scheduled” into “training complete” to make a dashboard green.

For a cross-agency or board variation, retain separate accountable authorities and approved sharing boundaries. Software cannot grant one institution authority over another. Use aggregate reporting rather than distributing every underlying document.

Define the metric before release

“Completed requests” needs a definition: closed by whom, over which dates, whether reopened items count, and which source supplies the denominator. Validate a sample against source records. A person approves the public report version and any corrections. No national-programme delivery experience or improvement result is implied by this small specimen.
